Regretfully 2012 Festival is Cancelled
It is with great disappointment and heavy hearts that I have to announce to you this year's Yeoval Mulga Bill Bicycle Festival 2012 has been cancelled. While last year's attendance was good, and the support from community, council and volunteers was amazingly outstanding we have not been able to secure a sufficient level of sponsorship to cover all of our costs.Over the last few days, weeks and months, we have tried our very best to ensure that the festival goes ahead, but to no avail. The current economic state we believe is also affecting in large the available sponsorship funding of most business and organisations thus making it impossible for the Yeoval Mulga Bill Bicycle Festival to continue for 2012.
We have nothing but undying gratitude to all of you who have helped us this year and over the past 6 years.
Both Cabonne Council, Wellington Council, prior festival organisers, the current festival committee and countless volunteers have all worked hard over the past 6 years to make many improvements to the running of the Festival, acquire assets, and raise the profile of the local Yeoval area.
With the wonderful attedance of visitors to the festival in 2011 and other fund raising of the committee the local Historical Museum is now owned by our community under the Yeoval & Districts Progress Association.
The one sponsorship cheque received of $250 has been returned to the sponsor, no other fees or monies had been collected in relation to the 2012 planned festival. Any remaining funds and non-financial assets will remain as controlled and owed by the Yeoval & Districts Progress Association committee.
The Yeoval Mulga Bill Bicycle Festival is registered to the Yeoval & Districts Progress Association and therefore will always remain as our community festival. The Yeoval Mulga Bill Bicycle Festival committee was formed as a sub-committee of the Yeoval & Districts Progress Association committee, it is likely that the Festival will operate again in the near future possibly as a bi-annual festival at the discretion of the Progress Association if their committee moves a motion according and a reappoint the festival committee come 2013.
I would like to thank you for your support of the Yeoval Mulga Bill Bicycle Festival.
